Gwen is completing her Master of Urban and Regional Planning, with a focus on Environmental Planning, at the University of Minnesota. She received her BA in Environmental Studies at Carleton College, and has done research and work related to food and agriculture policy, community development, urban community gardening, and community-based responses to the housing crisis. Gwen is particularly interested in finding ways to center community voices and knowledge in the context of urban reinvestment and redevelopment, in the intersection between the social and environmental aspects of community development and environmental justice, and issues involving the urban public realm.
Gwen is originally from San Rafael, California and Portland, Oregon, and has spent the last 10 years in Minnesota. Outside of work you can find her in the garden, at a thrift store, or walking, biking, and bussing around Minneapolis.
