Matt Connor is the Director of Marketing and Business Development. With over 30 years of relationship-driven, executive-level marketing and business development experience, Matt’s talent lies in creating authentic and effective connections and networks, inspiring teams and individuals to achieve both personal growth and professional success. He is also a Gallup Certified Strengths Coach. Matt’s professional experience started in the advertising agency world and in corporate marketing for a global software company. In 2001 he found his way to the architectural, engineering, and construction industry, working for Kirksey Architects, CivilTech Engineering and JQ Structural Engineering. Immediately prior to joining Asakura Robinson, Matt was President and Head Coach at Coach Connor Consulting where he was a Professional Speaker, Trainer, and Coach, where he spoke and coached on universal challenges such as: Burnout, Work Life Balance, Leadership, Conflict Management, and more.
Matt’s passion shines when he is helping others prosper and in his spare time he still enjoys speaking at events and conferences as well as coaching individuals. Outside the office, Matt has held leadership positions with the Society for Marketing Professional Services (SMPS), Texas United Futbol Club, and was a member of Leadership Houston’s class XXXVI (2017/18). He is a volunteer and the head soccer coach for Soaring Kidz, a sports program for children with special needs. Matt enjoys spending time and traveling with his wife, Shelly and their two grown children, Trent and Peyton, playing pickle ball, and working in the yard.
